How Do I Become A Sister Of St. Joseph Of Cluny?
We believe that God continues to call young women to serve Him as Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny. We are happy to enable this call by providing an opportunity for reflective prayer and discernment required for entry into our Formation programme.
The programme, lead by an experienced Sister and directed by a professional team, will guide you on your on- going journey. This discernment (programme) of approximately two years includes study of Religious Life, our Congregation, some theology, scripture and opportunities to experience community living and ministry. Through prayer, an essential part of formation, (Religious Life) you will develop a personal relationship with a God who loves you unconditionally.
On completion of your formation programme you may make temporary vows of Obedience, Poverty and Chastity for three years renewable FOR ANOTHER THREE YEARS. Having been prepared spiritually and psychologically, you are now ready to make total commitment of your life to God, a life of love and service as a Sister of St. Joseph of Cluny.
At any time during formation or temporary profession/commitment you are free to choose to return to your former way of life with the support of the sisters.
In the Encyclical “Christi Fidelis Laice” Pope John Paul II calls for the laity to be given their rightful place in the Church.
Our Foundress, Blessed Anne-Marie Javouhey, gifted us, Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny, with a special charism, a founding gift given to her for the Church, Aware then, of our mission of evangelization in the Church, we are responding to the Pope’s call through our Associate programme.
The purpose of the organisation is to offer women and men, aware of their baptismal call to holiness, an opportunity for on-going, spiritual development. Through a personal understanding of the Word of God and the faith, they will be encouraged and supported in living Gospel values and realizing God’s plan in their daily life and in the Church.
A Sister accompanies the group for monthly meetings. She will share with them her knowledge of the life, charism and spirituality of A.M.J, the history and spirituality of the congregation and the universal dimension of Cluny mission in the Church.
We have three Associate groups in our Province. Anyone interested in our programme or seeking further information can contact our sisters in Girvan, Scotland, Mount Sackville, Dublin and Ferbane, Offaly.
